Top 5 Classic Slasher Movies To Watch This Halloween

It’s that time of the season again where you gear up to get ready for the colder weather and horror movies. This is the best time of the year if you ask us. Halloween is coming up rapidly and what better time to present you the top five classic slasher movies to watch this Halloween.

We are writing these movies as our personal top 5 but you could watch any of these movies in any order and they are guaranteed not to disappoint. First let’s make it clear when we say classic slasher movie we are referring to the main franchises that have multiple movies over a span of time. For example: Scream, Friday the 13th, etc. We are aware there are a ton of horror movies and slasher movies but we will save those for another day as we will be writing the classics for this one.

#1. Freddy vs. Jason (2003). Coming in at number one is an easy pick for our staff. Everything screams Cult classic slasher movie with this one. From the soundtrack that’s classic early 2000’s rock, to the plot of the movie this is by far our number one pick. Combining both Freddy Krueger and Jason and this one it definitely does not miss a beat and is action packed. The feel of this movie overall screams Nostalgia and classic slasher horror.

#2. Friday the 13th (2009). Coming in second is Friday the 13th the 2009 edition. Again, this movie screams nostalgia and instantly gets started with a murder scene at the beginning of people trying to escape Jason’s wrath. This movie does a good job of walking you through the horror story of Jason himself while combining a newer age of videography and acting to further enhance this golden classic.

#3. Scream (1996). Based on a group of high school friends this one screams slasher classic from the beginning. The intro scene draws you in instantly as you begin to wonder who the killer could possibly be. It has everything a good slasher movie should have from the soundtrack down to jump scares this one has at all. Try to figure out who the killer is alongside the cast as this movie keeps you guessing the entire time. The Scream franchise is the newest franchise listed in this article, but we also believe that it is one of the best.

#4. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003). This one personally always gives me goosebumps. From the way it was filmed to the noises that it makes during the movie and at the end credits always personally wigged me out. The storyline on this I believe is the best of all of the Texas Chainsaw massacre franchises. Buckle up and make sure you are prepared for jump scares and gory content because this one has it all.

#5. A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010). This modern day take of Freddy Krueger is great and even better than the older classics. With the new style of videography and more modern look of the updated cameras makes this one of if not the best nightmare on Elm Street movies to date. Watching this movie may have you hesitant to fall asleep later at night.

Whether you decide to watch all of these movies or only a few, You are guaranteed to start your holiday off with a bang, or dare we say with a “slash”.
